Commerce connects your online store to your WhatsApp number. Your store tells Wapzio when a shopper leaves a cart and when an order changes, and Wapzio sends the WhatsApp message for it — a cart reminder with a button back to the same cart, an order confirmation, a shipping update with tracking, a Cash on Delivery confirmation the shopper can accept or cancel with one tap.
Nothing is sent from your phone and nothing is typed by hand. You approve the message copy once as a WhatsApp template, decide when each message goes out, and Commerce does the rest.
Reminders, order messages, limits and quiet hours are all configured per store, so a brand with two storefronts can chase carts differently on each.
The journey, end to end
- 1
A shopper fills a cart and leaves
Your store sends the cart to Wapzio — items, total, and the shopper's phone number. It appears under Commerce → Abandoned Carts.
- 2
Wapzio waits, then reminds
Your recovery flow decides the wait (20 minutes, 3 hours, a day — up to five reminders) and which approved template goes out. The message carries a button that opens that shopper's own cart again.
- 3
The shopper pays
The order arrives from your store, the cart is marked Recovered, and every remaining reminder for it stops. Nobody who has already bought is chased.
- 4
The order moves
Placed, Cash on Delivery confirmation, shipped with tracking, cancelled, a feedback request, and a reorder nudge later — each one is a message you switch on per store.
Where each part lives in the panel
| Screen | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Commerce → Stores | Connect a store, see whether it is healthy, copy its ingest URL, download the WooCommerce plugin, rotate its token. |
| Commerce → Abandoned Carts | Every captured cart, its shopper, and exactly which reminders were sent, skipped or failed. |
| Commerce → Recovery Flows | The reminder ladder: delays, templates, discount codes, quiet hours and limits. |
| Commerce → Order Messages | One row per order event — placed, COD, shipped, cancelled, feedback, reorder — with its template and timing. |
| Commerce → Reports | Carts captured, messages delivered, clicks, recovered revenue, and what the messages cost. |
Before you connect anything
- A WhatsApp Business API number already live on Wapzio. If you are not there yet, start with Quick-start & Onboarding.
- Admin access to your store — Shopify admin, WordPress admin, or the developer who owns your custom site.
- A checkout that collects a phone number. A cart with no number cannot be messaged, and this is the single most common reason a store captures carts but sends nothing.
- At least one approved WhatsApp template for the message you want to send first. Templates are approved by Meta, not by Wapzio, so start them early.
Connect the store first, confirm a real cart appears under Abandoned Carts, and only then build the templates and the flow. A cart on screen proves the plumbing before you spend time on copy.
What it costs to send
WhatsApp charges per message, and the price depends on the template category. Cart reminders, feedback requests and reorder nudges are marketing. Order confirmations, shipping updates and COD confirmations are utility, which is cheaper and is not blocked when a shopper has already had a lot of marketing that month.
Commerce → Reports shows the spend per store, so you can see the cost against the recovered revenue rather than guessing.
